Kentish Express Ashford & District

Generous pupils lead the way

-

Norton Knatchbull School has handed over a SECOND cheque for nearly £2,500 to Guide Dogs.

Since nominating the Ashford branch as one of their charities in 2014, pupils and staff have eaten their way through more than £2,000 worth of cakes and raced £1,986 worth of pennies.

They have also held non-school uniform days, a Fifa football challenge and puppy paw pin badge sales, altogether raising more than £5,000 in two years.

The whopping total means the school can name another guide dog puppy and the newest recruit will be called Knatchbull.

Last year’s puppy, who appeared as guest of honour at the Hythe Road school’s cheque presentation, was named Norton.

Susanne Staab, head teacher, said: “I would like to thank all the students, staff, family and friends who have supported NKS through our fundraising activities and donated loose change for our famous annual Penny Race.

“NKS are delighted to be supporting Guide Dogs once more and we thank everyone who has helped us to achieve our goal.”
