Furley Park Primary will represent Ashford district in the Kent School Games finals this summer after winning the Ashford and Tenterden sportshall festival at the Stour Centre.

More than 500 pupils from 24 primary schools competed in the tournament, involving three hours of running, jumping and throwing.

The Park Farm school won 11 events to be crowned champions with 1,082 points, 134 ahead of runners-up Lady Joanna Thornhill from Wye.

John Wesley Primary School and Kennington Juniors shared third place with 852 points.

Young sports leaders from Highworth Grammar School for Girls acted as officials.

Organisers Ashford Leisure Trust run the event in partnershi­p with the North School to deliver the Ashford School Games programme as part of the Trust’s participat­ion to performanc­e programme.
