Sportshall ath­let­ics

Fur­ley Park Pri­mary will rep­re­sent Ash­ford district in the Kent School Games fi­nals this sum­mer af­ter win­ning the Ash­ford and Ten­ter­den sportshall fes­ti­val at the Stour Cen­tre.

More than 500 pupils from 24 pri­mary schools com­peted in the tour­na­ment, in­volv­ing three hours of run­ning, jump­ing and throw­ing.

The Park Farm school won 11 events to be crowned cham­pi­ons with 1,082 points, 134 ahead of run­ners-up Lady Joanna Thorn­hill from Wye.

John Wes­ley Pri­mary School and Ken­ning­ton Ju­niors shared third place with 852 points.

Young sports lead­ers from High­worth Gram­mar School for Girls acted as of­fi­cials.

Or­gan­is­ers Ash­ford Leisure Trust run the event in part­ner­ship with the North School to de­liver the Ash­ford School Games pro­gramme as part of the Trust’s par­tic­i­pa­tion to per­for­mance pro­gramme.
