Five Kent MPs say they want out

-

Political opinion in the county over the question of whether the UK should remain in the EU is – not unexpectedly – divided.

Of the county’s 16 Conservative MPs who have shown their hand, five have signalled their support for a Brexit.

They are: Gareth Johnson (Dartford), Craig Mackinlay (South Thanet), Julian Brazier (Canterbury), Adam Holloway (Gravesham) and Gordon Henderson (Sittingbourne and Sheppey).

Those supporting the UK to remain in the EU are: Damian Green (Ashford), Damian Collins (Folkestone and Hythe), Charlie Elphicke (Dover), Sir Roger Gale (North Thanet), Greg Clark (Tunbridge Wells) and Michael Fallon (Sevenoaks).

The remaining MPs have indicated they are still weighing up the issue.

The deal negotiated by David Cameron has been slammed by Ukip Party leader and South East MEP Nigel Farage as “truly pathetic”.
