Sugar tax
Researchers say introducing a sugar tax on fizzy drinks and foods could help begin to curb adult and child obesity. According to Cancer Research UK as many as 60% of adults in Ashford are either overweight or obese, leading to increased risk of cancer, heart problems and diabetes. The organisation has called for a 20% sugar tax, and estimates it would stop 3.7 million people from becoming overweight or obese.
