Adalta rider Jo Smith finished third overall in the Full Gas Winter Track League meeting at Lee Valley Velo Park.

Smith has been a consistent performer with several podium finishes in the five-month long series.

The venue will now be prepared to stage the World Track Cycling Championships for the first time later this year.

Second category rider Emma Lewis finished second in the latest round of the East London Winter Series at Hog Hill circuit at Redbridge in Essex.

She held her position despite the inconvenience of a dropped chain on the climb.

The race split early, following a fast start, with rain and blustery winds making life difficult.

Alicia Clifford maintained her speed in the worsening conditions, attacking the corners on her way to eighth place, with fellow fourth category rider Jody Coxon battling against the leg-sapping climb to finish one place behind in the pair’s first outing in Adalta colours.
