Garden donation is just what the doctor ordered!

Housebuilder will help bring colour to surgery with bulbs

-

Blooming marvellous – that could be the reaction soon for visitors to Charing doctors’ surgery.

They are set to have a more colourful view thanks to a donation from local housebuilder David Wilson Homes to the centre.

The company has committed to sustained support of The Gardening Group at Charing Surgery since it started and its latest donation will be used to plant new bulbs and bring colour to the garden.

The Gardening Group is formed of patients who have chosen to use gardening as a means of looking after their own health and wellbeing and who have been working together for the last two years to turn the land into a therapeutic space for patients to enjoy.

Already the team has transformed two plots and the garden now has a seating and meeting area, raised beds planted with fruit and vegetables, a woodlands area and a rose walk.

Yvonne Fernando, chair of The Gardening Group at Charing Surgery said: “David Wilson Homes is a long-standing supporter of our work and we’re over the moon with this latest donation. We’ll have great fun planting the bulbs and we know the flowers will bring colour and fun to everyone who visits the garden.”

Pam Reardon, sales and marketing director at David Wilson Homes, said: “Our latest development in Charing is called Poppy Fields so it’s fitting that our donation will be used to bring flowers to local people.

“Giving something back to the environment, as well as the communities that we work in, is important to us so we are delighted to be able to help.

“The gardening group is doing a fantastic job.”
