Call for MP to go after los­ing the fight to re­main

Ukip has called for Ash­ford MP Damian Green to “con­sider his po­si­tion” after back­ing the los­ing side in the EU Ref­er­en­dum.

Mr Green was a prom­i­nent cam­paigner for the Re­main side in the run-up to last Thurs­day’s vote.

At a meet­ing of lo­cal Ukip mem­bers in Kingsnorth on Satur­day evening, for­mer Ukip can­di­date, Ger­ald O’Brien, thanked the 41,472 Ash­ford vot­ers who had voted Leave in the Ref­er­en­dum.

He paid trib­ute to the many helpers from all po­lit­i­cal par­ties (and none) who had con­trib­uted to Ash­ford Out’s ef­forts to se­cure the 59.4% Leave vote in Ash­ford and Ten­ter­den.

Not­ing that Ash­ford’s MP Damian Green had been an en­thu­si­as­tic sup­porter of the Re­main op­tion, which he said a clear For­mer Ukip can­di­date Ger­ald O’Brien: ‘MP Damian Green should con­sider his po­si­tion’ ma­jor­ity of Ash­ford vot­ers had re­jected.
