Post of­fice’s new counter

A new open-plan counter, which will make it eas­ier for staff and cus­tomers to talk is part of a re­fur­bish­ment planned for one vil­lage post of­fice.

Ald­ing­ton Post Of­fice and store, in Claphill, is set to be mod­ernised in July which will see the full-screen counter re­placed and changes made to the en­trance and re­tail area. The im­prove­ments are part of a £20m na­tional in­vest­ment scheme, with 3,000 cru­cial com­mu­nity branches across the UK in line for in­vest­ment.

The Ald­ing­ton branch will close for re­fur­bish­ment on Tues­day, July 19 at 5.30pm and the re­vamped branch will re-open on Thurs­day, July 21 at 1pm.

Dur­ing the re­fur­bish­ment al­ter­na­tive venues in­clude Mer­sham Post Of­fice in The Street and Brabourne Lees Post Of­fice in Lees Road will serve Ald­ing­ton cus­tomers.
