Kent Wildlife Trust is holding a free course on butterfly identifica­tion, on Saturday from 1pm to 5pm in Shadoxhurs­t.

The event, part of the Ashford Meadows Project, has been funded by Biffa Award, a fund that aims to build communitie­s through awarding grants to projects across the UK, as part of the Landfill Communitie­s Fund.

The course will i nvolve both an indoor session and a visit to surroundin­g farmland and woodlands.

Kent Wildlife Trust is also leading a free guided walk through some of Shadoxhurs­t’s finest meadows on the same day from 6pm to 7.30pm, as part of National Meadows Day.

The event is also funded by Biffa Award. The Trust’s Camilla Blackburn, said: “This evening walk will take in several of the sites involved in the project and should provide an amazing wildlife spectacle.”

Walkers should meet at Green Farm, Duck Lane, Shadoxhurs­t TN26 1LT.
