Pupils from across Ash­ford got into the Olympic spirit last Tues­day as they per­formed in a world mu­sic fes­ti­val to cel­e­brate the Rio Olympic and Par­a­lympic Games.

Chil­dren from Ham­street, Great Chart, Downs View, Beaver Green and God­in­ton pri­maries took part in an In­spire Car­ni­val at High­worth Gram­mar School where they par­tic­i­pated in a num­ber of in­terna- tional dance rou­tines in­clud­ing the African gum­boot dance and beat­box­ing.

Funded by The Kent Schools’ Fund­ing Fo­rum and Kent County Coun­cil, In­spired Ways to Rio en­cour­ages young peo­ple to in­crease their par­tic­i­pa­tion in sport lead­ing up to the Rio games. For­mer Olympians and Par­a­lympians also at­tended.
