Pupils from across Ashford got into the Olympic spirit last Tuesday as they performed in a world music festival to celebrate the Rio Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Children from Hamstreet, Great Chart, Downs View, Beaver Green and Godinton primaries took part in an Inspire Carnival at Highworth Grammar School where they participat­ed in a number of interna- tional dance routines including the African gumboot dance and beatboxing.

Funded by The Kent Schools’ Funding Forum and Kent County Council, Inspired Ways to Rio encourages young people to increase their participat­ion in sport leading up to the Rio games. Former Olympians and Paralympia­ns also attended.
