Party in park aims to put smile on the face of town

Local bands, dance groups, soloists and artists will be performing at this year’s Ashford Festival in the Park.

The free event - now in its 11th year – will take place this weekend in North Park, in Tannery Lane.

This year there is an added slot tomorrow (Friday) from 7pm to 11.30pm, as well as performanc­es on Saturday from noon to 11.30pm and Sunday from noon to 11.30pm.

This year’s headline artists will be Ashford favourites Slam Cartel on Friday, Bloodstone Blue on Saturday and Who’s Brian? on Sunday.

Other expected highlights include festival- first- timers Wylie Coyotes, Cold Shots and StereoFoni­cs.

Edward Lockett, who co-organises the festival with Chad Jenner of Audio Energy, launched the event with friends more than a decade ago. There are a number of activities on offer, including a raffle, and everyone is welcome.
