Film bid to capture paranormal powers
A film produced by an Ashford woman and featuring a number of people from the borough will premiere at the town’s Creative Collective gallery on Friday, July 15 .
New experimental documentary, Supernatural8, explores the idea of paranormal energy and examines the nature of belief.
It features Nic Whitham of the Banjan Retreat, in Hothfield and Dawn Rumsey of the Shakra Centre, in Charing.
The film will be screened at the Park Mall Gallery from 8pm with director Bob Hickey on hand afterwards for a Q&A.
The film follows an experiment that looks at whether it is possible to leave a mark on a super 8 film using the power of paranormal energy.
Mr Hickey said: “In a digital world of increasing information, but less and less time, we require structure and polarity – true or false, black or white, good or bad.
“But in the real world there is fluidity – spectrums of uncer- tainty, grey, and the subjective.
“This is a more dangerous place, full of paradox and ambiguity – the natural home of art and the ‘supernatural’. They cross or blend boundaries, they juxtapose.
“I have had moments of coincidence or synchronicity before, especially when making films and so I want to provide a space for ambiguity and synchronicity to play.
“With this film I hope to exam- ine the nature of belief and exploit the gap between true and false.”
Melody Kennett, producer, said: “We will be filming at the premiere for the final cut.
“Plus most of the people in the film – psychics, healers, law of attraction mentors – will be there. It should be an interesting night!”
