Kings Head pub has winning recipe
A pub restaurant in Wye has been hailed Restaurant of the Year in the annual Shepherd Neame Pub Awards.
The Kings Head in Church Street won the prestigious award during a ceremony held at the Conningbrook Hotel in Kennington on Tuesday, June 28
The awards celebrate areas of excellence such as beer knowledge and service, food presentation and consistency, and community involvement.
The Wye pub restaurant was one of 13 winners from the brewery’s 335 pubs and hotels across London and the South East.
The pub has been run by Scott Richardson and Mark Lightford since 2012 and has been transformed into a popular and stylish destination to eat, drink and stay.
Their food led to the pub being a finalist for the Kent Dining Pub of the Year category in the Taste of Kent Awards 2016.
Mr Richardson said: “Provenance and seasonality are key to our menu.
“We source locally and the seasonal produce on offer influences the dishes on offer, with everything made from scratch.
“We have a fantastic team, and it is great that everyone’s hard work has been recognised with this award.”
Shepherd Neame chief executive Jonathan Neame, who presented the awards, said: “We are very proud of our estate of pubs, inns and hotels.
“These awards are aimed at recognising the hard work, dedication, and creativity of our licensees and staff, and celebrating excellence in our industry.”
