Ashford International Hotel is on the hunt for the summer’s best wedding speech.

The hotel in Simone Weil Avenue and its parent company QHotels have launched the Wedding Speech Awards, now in its second year, which aims to recognise the best speeches given at weddings, whether emotional, sentimental or just plain hilarious.

Over the next two months, Ashford International Hotel invites speech-givers and wedding guests to enter the awards by posting a video of the speech they think truly stands out on QHotels’ Facebook page, using the hashtag #WeddingSpeech.

A panel of judges will put together a shortlist of entries, and the public will then be invited to vote for their winner from the shortlisted speeches. Prizes include breaks at a choice of QHotels as well as golf and spa treats.

Veronica Kingham, general manager of the Ashford International, said: “We received so many fantastic entries into last year’s awards, with a range of memorable weddings speeches shared by the nation.”

Entries can be submitted by the speech-givers themselves or a wedding guest, and must be available on a public video platform.

The closing date for entries is August 31.
