Citroën’s electric dream car

Citroën’s innovative new electric car will be previewed during this weekend’s Kent County Show.

The new E-Citroën Mehari is an all-electric four-seat off-road convertible designed to sustain all kinds of conditions and with fun firmly in mind.

Wilmoths, the Maidstone dealership for the French brand, will be offering the exclusive sneak peak at the Kent Showground, Detling, from today (Friday) to Sunday.

Designed to look like a classy beach buggy, the E-Citroën Mehari has been constructed using thermoformed plastic, making it dent-proof and resistant to corrosion.

With a raised chassis, it can handle all-terrain driving, making it low maintenance and suited to a variety of driving conditions.

The modern compact car can reach top speeds of 70mph and boasts a 124-mile range.

Fitted with a 30 kWh lithiumpolymer battery pack, it takes eight hours to fully charge on a 16-amp socket such as those commonly found at petrol stations, or 10 hours on a simple domestic 10-amp socket, and has a maximum power of 50 kW.

The interior is fully waterproof, including plasticcoated seats, and is equipped with flooring drainage to facilitate hose washing.

A folding seat means all the essential stuff can be easily stored and retrieved – perfect for those summer days out.

The E-Citroën Mehari is also fitted with a removable canvas roof.

This quirky new model is a tribute to Citroën’s 1968 Mehari SUV and borrows design elements from its C4 Cactus crossover and will be available in four bright colours coupled with different paint schemes for the roof.

It will be available by the end of this year.
