score at 63-4, finishing 25 not out in a stand of 74, winning the game with a six off Qayyum, who finished with 2-72 off 9.1 overs as Tenterden eased home on 137-4.

Sam Weller took 4-26, and Jamie Bristow-Diamond 3-25 as the visitors were dismissed for 135.

Knight admitted: “There was some serious rain around, so we got a bit lucky. I think it was pay-back time for us after the weather robbed us of the chance of beating Tunbridge Wells a couple of weeks earlier.”

He added: “Ben was hurt stopping a certain five wides, and the thumb was very bruised, but there is no break. It was a brilliant knock, because there was a lot of pressure from Bromley when we were 50-3 and 60-4, but he kept playing his shots, which is the way he plays and put it back on them.”

Tenterden’s reply started shakily, losing Andrew Crawford second ball, before Chris Vernon (26) and Bharat Popli (10) fell to successive Qayyum deliveries.

Bristow-Diamond continued his good form with the ball.

Knight said: “It was a great effort by Jamie, he was playing in the twos, but got his opportunity against Dartford and bowled very well.”

Reflecting on a very successful first half of the season, Knight added: “I think a lot of people thought we would be in the bottom two.

“There is obviously a long way to go, but I think one more win would ensure we stay in the Premier which was a team objective at the start of the season.”

Tenterden 2nds made 62-2 in 17 overs at Linden Park before play was washed out.
