Still an example of council’s prowess?
What is the point of writing to your very good newspaper with comment about controversies, hoping things can improve eventually for most of us living here, when we have something like the so-called Drovers Roundabout with its overgrown vegetation (vetches, tares, dangerous ragwort et al, all over the place) covering this expensive piece of artwork. It was originally lauded as an example of Ashford’s town and country planners and Borough Council’s prowess.
But, I for one find it really quite depressing and wonder why anyone here bothers to make the effort at all.
Frankly, what is the ruddy point? David Berrie, Wye Road, Boughton Lees. complete lack of consideration by Ashford Borough Council for taxpayers and visitors, particularly the older generation who will often have a more frequent need to use toilets.
Having to walk from say the Vicarage Road car park after parking a car it is not realistic to expect the disabled and elderly to have to walk to the main shopping centre to find a toilet.
The real answer is that unlike Europe and Scotland our toilets are unsupervised and therefore unfortunately prone to mindless attacks and misuse. In Europe, Scotland and many railway stations toilets are supervised and there is a nominal charge of 20p to 50p to use them. As a result they are clean and fit for use. Clive R Young, Great Chart.
