Where’s the praise for traders’ efforts?
With reference to the letter from Cllr Graham Galpin (Farmers’ market is top attraction, KE, July 14), I am sure that the remit of farmers’ markets does not provide for breakfasts/lunches at the expense of local cafes.
Farmers’ markets were conceived to provide a place for local farmers/food producers to sell their products to the general public.
It is the cafes etc that provide a service all year round, pay business rates etc, not farmers’ markets which in the main are subsidised.
