SQUAD MEMBERS’ EFFORTS REWARDED
Ashford AC youngsters contributed to a total of 27 personal bests as ATIP maintained their Southern Region North East Division 1 league status in the UK Youth Development league at Medway Park in Gillingham on Sunday.
The ATIP squad, drawn from Thanet AC, Invicta East Kent AC and Paddock Wood AC, finished fourth in the event and the overall table, 23 points behind winners Havering.
With many athletes unavailable, team manager Tina Tappenden had to rely on others competing in events they wouldn’t normally take part in, as well as performing to the best of their ability in their usual track and field disciplines
She said: “Over the last two years, 10 youngsters from our club and Thanet AC have earned their Level 1 Track and Field qualification which is the most across the county.”
