Palmer sets target of 25 goals for the season

- By Andrew Gidley

Ryan Palmer has set himself a target of scoring 25 goals this season.

The 25-year-old pacy wideman scored 15 in 37 appearances last season after arriving at the club in September. He believes he can improve on that and help United to win the Southern Counties East League Premier Division title, having recovered from a medial knee ligament problem which delayed his pre-season build-up.

He said: “We have got a strong squad with a few additions and we now want to push on.”

Palmer, who spent a season in the old Conference South with Fisher Athletic under former Dagenham & Redbridge manager Wayne Burnett, has also served Erith & Belvedere previously, before arriving at Homelands last September, having started the season at VCD.

He said “I settled in quickly and manager Danny Lye told me to express myself and go and get the team goals.”

Meanwhile, Palmer has just started his summer break from his day job as a teacher at Moatbridge School in Eltham working with pupils with special educational needs.

He said: “It’s a perfect fit for me and I love the interaction with the kids.”
