Mum takes plunge for cancer patient
A young Folkestone mum said a 200-foot bungee jump in aid of a teenage cancer victim was ‘totally worth it.’
India May, 31, joined 11 other jumpers for the hair-raising stunt at the Lighthouse Inn, in Capelle-Ferne on Saturday, August 6.
Ms May said the jump was the first adrenaline junkie thing she has ever done but she really enjoyed it and would soon do another one.
She said: “I got to the top with a couple of friends who were there for moral support but started getting really scared at the top.
“The instructor told me to just fall out and when I got going I put my arms out and really enjoyed it!
“It was really fun and I wanted to go again.
“I would love to do another one, or maybe I’d like jump out of a plane next.
“It’s turned me into an adrena- India May bungee jumping line junkie stunt-mum!”
Overall, the group raised around £3,000 for Kelly Tuner, a 16-year-old girl from Dover who is hoping to raise enough money to get life-saving cancer treatment in America.
Ms May, a media sales executive in the KM Group’s advertising department in Ashford, has lost a grandparent and an uncle to cancer.
She said: “People in my family have had cancer. It really is in your face and it is not fair that Kelly can’t get the treatment she needs on her doorstep.
“She actually turned up to the bungee jump, which was great because I didn’t know she was coming.
“She was watching us do the jump and after said she thought we were all a bit mad!
“It was the first time I’d met her so that was really special and she said she really values everyone’s support.
“We all felt very proud to be raising money for her.”
