Rotary ramble is chance to help out your chosen charity
Ashford Rotary Club’s annual ramble takes place next month – with participants able to raise money for their chosen charity.
The walk is on Sunday, September 11.
In the 40 plus years that the event has been running, hundreds of thousands of pounds has been raised for local, national and international charities.
The club provides a safe environment for the five or 10-mile walk with easy to follow route markers, St John Ambulance on hand in case of emergencies, refreshments at suitable intervals and even a pub en route.
To take part, all you have to do is turn up on the day, or gather together a team of friends who would enjoy a leisurely walk over the Downs, starting and finishing at Wye Village Hall.
Burgers and bacon butties will be available on your return and there’s even a treasure hunt to keep children amused on the way. Dogs are welcome too.
Last year funds were raised for, among others, Pilgrims Hospice, Home-Start, the Caldecott Foundation, The Children’s Trust, Cancer Research, Motor Neurone Association, Marie Curie, Kent MS Therapy Centre, Charlotte’s Crew, Find A Voice, Parkinson’s, Ashford, Samaritans, SOBBS, East Kent Strokes and Wye Village Hall Restoration Fund, plus various schools and guide groups.
If you would like to walk but don’t have a favourite charity, Ashford Rotary Club would welcome your contribution to enable it to carry on supporting local charities.
The Pilgrims Hospice has entered a team for the last few years and this year is no exception. Victoria Lawrence, community fundraising manager, said “We are delighted that people are choosing to take part in the Rotary Ramble in aid of Pilgrims Hospices as this helps to raise much needed funds for our services.”
Anyone interested in walking in aid of the hospice should email Victoria Lawrence at Victoria.lawrence@ pilgrimshospices.org.
