Openers make light work of chasing target

An unbeaten opening stand of 126 between Ryan Knight (74) and Owen Piper (47) helped Stone-in-Oxney to a 10-wicket Division 1 win over Great Chart.

They needed less than 19 overs to see their side home on 126-0, after Alex Clarke took 3-11 in Chart’s 123-7.

In Division 2, skipper Lee Blackman’s 4-14 helped bowl Wye (198-8) to a 73-run win in Division 2 over Tyler Hill (125).

Joe Elgar (32) and William Spain (30) top scored for second-placed Wye, who sit four points behind beaten leaders Selling. Saminda Senapathi hit 57 and skipper Tom Richardson (55) as Woodchurch 252 beat Selling (184-9) by 68 runs.

The visitors batted a man short after losing Gabriel Hamlyn, injured while bowling earlier in the game.

Toby Phipps (4-32) and Tom Crisford (3-26) did the damage as Smarden bowled out hosts Mersham le Hatch for 69 to win by 98 runs.

Challock (157) went down by 124 runs at Detling (281-4).

Matthew Ford hit 77 out of Dymchurch’s (118-8) in their 61-run home defeat by Meopham (179-9).

In Division 3, Gary Sutton completed his second hundred in successive days, hitting an unbeaten 133 off 104 balls, with 20 fours and one six as Pluckley (238-3) won by 49 runs at Town Malling (189-8). Daniel Simon Dry made 71.

Craig Harding scored 92 for Stowting (218-9) in their nine-wicket defeat at Selsted (222-1).

In Division 3, Paul Parkinson (155) starred with the bat but Aldington (267) fell six runs short at home to Borstal (273).

Luke Perkins top scored with 49 as Brookland (174-9) lost by 19 runs at home to Upchurch (193-5).

Charing are joint top of Division 4 after picking up six points after opponents Borden conceded.

Steve Edge (39) and Tom Cunningham (36) top scored in Mersham Sports’ 183-8, enough for a 49-run win over Saltwood (134).

Christophe­r Eccles hit 120 as Little Chart (212-3) won by seven wickets at Boughton-under-Blean (211-8) in Division 5. Skipper Trevelyan Nicholas made 53 for Bilsington (147-9) in their 125-run loss at Eastchurch (272-8).

Rolvenden (68) lost by 215 runs at New Ifield (283-4).

In Division 6, James Iles (88), Jeremy Grove (68) and Jon Ghaemian (64) all featured as Kennington (263-5) won by 53 runs at Loose & Leeds (210-4).

Stone-in-Oxney celebrated the club’s President’s Day on Saturday.

The club side beat Rob Watsham’s President’s XI 2-1 in three close T20 games. Kent beneficiar­y Darren Stevens, team-mates Matt Coles, Mitch Claydon and former skipper county Rob Key supported the day, playing cricket with youngsters, as well as fielding in the matches.
