Plenty of reasons to be cheerful
I must say that I’m more in Team Positive than Team Negative when it comes to Ashford these days.
I think that Ashford Borough Council (ABC) is making all the right moves when it comes to their efforts to rejuvenate the town centre and encourage investment. As someone who has been critical of council planning strategies in the past, I believe it’s only fair to applaud when I see positive work.
The new college looks set to become an iconic building and a symbol for Ashford’s rejuvenation, while plans for the new cinema, town centre housing, new supermarket and extension of the outlet shopping centre can be nothing but great news for us all.
With a focus on making the town centre more attractive, respecting the beautiful countryside that surrounds us and maintaining Accident & Emergency services at the William Harvey Hospital (which to be fair is beyond the gift of ABC alone), what’s to stop us being really proud of our town?
