Paying for parking to get easier

-

New parking payment machines are being installed at Ashford’s Edinburgh Road car park this Sunday. To enable the work to be done the car park will be closed all day and, if it takes longer than anticipated, it will remain closed on Bank Holiday Monday.

A total of 40 new parking terminals are being installed across Ashford and Tenterden to replace the existing machines, which are more than 10 years old and have suffered from wear and tear and technical issues.

The new machines will have a larger screen and various payment methods, allowing drivers to quickly and easily pay for their parking ticket. The machines will enable payment by cash, phone, credit/debit card and contactless technology.

Over the bank holiday shoppers can enjoy free parking in certain council-owned car parks in Ashford and Tenterden on selected days over the weekend.

Parking is free in the Flour Mills car park on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, and free after 3pm on the same days in the Station Road car park.

Parking is free in Tenterden’s Bridewell Lane car park on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.

All car parks run by Ashford Borough Council are free after 6pm.
