Sales drive outside the garages

-

The village of Smarden holds its annual garage sale from 9am to 1pm on Saturday, September 3.

The event includes a safari of garages in the village centre and beyond. Visitors should start at the Charter Hall in Chessenden Lane where maps, drinks and toilets are all available as well as 11 stalls selling a wide variety of bric-a-brac, plants, children’s clothes and toys.

There are a further 18 garages to visit, some in the village centre and others in the Water Lane, Bethersden Road and Biddenden Road areas including Lime Kiln Farm, Lavender Barn and Primrose Cottage as well as the Meeting House, one of the village’s oldest houses.

Organiser Gill Bromley said: “We are hoping for fine weather, but it is always a great event and many of the garage sales will be under cover if wet.

“Visitors will find furniture, tools, vintage items, clothing, bikes and lawn mowers among things on sale. The village shops and gallery will be open and the pubs can provide a great lunch.”

Any profits will be shared between Smarden Youth Club and the Charter Hall.
