Former gatehouse put on the market

A grade-II listed former gatehouse to Ashford’s Godinton Manor estate is up for sale with Hobbs Parker.

East Lodge, built in 1868, was once at the prominent entrance to the estate but is now at the entrance of the Godinton Park housing estate.

The property boasts three bedrooms, with a kitchen, dining room and sitting room on the ground floor.

But the agents admit the property will be affected when the A28 Chart Road is widened into a dual carriageway, with a garden wall being moved a metre closer to the property and some garden space being lost.

Kent County Council aims to start building the new £30 million dual carriageway in early 2018, with the aim of completing the works by autumn 2019.
