Hospice fundraiser sure to be a knockout success

-

Ashford Pilgrims Hospice is hoping its first It’s a Knockout will be a top fun fundraiser.

The event is being staged on Sunday, September 11 at Sandyacres sports club in Sandyhurst Lane, Ashford, from 10.30am to 3.30pm.

Teams of 10 will be taking part in a variety of giant inflatable games, many involving water and with a variety of silliness that should make it an unforgettable day out for everyone involved.

One team that has already signed up to throw caution to the wind is from Three R’s Teacher Recruitment in Ashford.

Alison Nightingale, the firm’s business development manager said: “Two years ago my father-in-law David Nightingale was under the care of Pilgrims Hospices. Although he lived in Deal, as all his family were in Ashford, he asked to be cared for there in the last days of his life as this would make it so much easier for us all to visit.

“Not only did Pilgrims Hospice readily accommodate this, but the care he received there was wonderful and the staff made those difficult times as stress free as it possibly could be.

“Throughout that time the whole team in Three R’s supported me in any way they could. When I saw the It’s a Knockout event I thought this would be a wonderful opportunity for us to raise funds for Pilgrims Hospices in a really great way.

“Many of our team already like to take part in sporting challenges and when I suggested this to them, they all readily agreed to participate and we hope to raise lots of money. Three R’s is a Kentbased recruitment agency and helping to support our local community is very important to us.”

Victoria Lawrence, the hospices community fundraising manager said: “We are getting really excited about our inaugural event.

“We’re delighted that so many teams are signing up to join in the fun and we’re looking forward to this fun filled day. Funds raised will make a real difference to Pilgrims Hospices.”

There are still a few places available.
