The Rio Olympics has given one business a big boost.

Debenhams in County Square says sales of its lingerie and swimwear sales have risen by 43% so far this summer, with the Games and other sporting events appearing to be the inspiration.

Serena Williams victory at Wimbledon last month saw an uplift of around 30% in sales of sports bras at the Ashford store.

Peter Heritage, the store manager said: “It is clear that there are correlations between the rise of sales in certain lingerie products and the sporting events we are witnessing this summer such as the Olympics, Euro 2016 and Wimbledon.”
