Winner Giles at her best in final race

Danyel Giles produced the performanc­e of the night, smashing her own personal best as first lady home (21min 27sec) in the final Ashford Summer Series 5k on Friday.

Clubmate Jon Wells was the first Ashford & District Road Running Club member home, finishing seventh overall in 18.43, followed by Chris Boyce (11th in 20:01) and Paul Moses, (first male vet 50 and 12th overall in 20min 07sec).

Gill O’Connor was second lady home behind Giles, 19th overall in 21.54, with Christine Costiff third, 21st overall in 22.25, completing an Ashford & District RRC clean sweep for the top three places.

Stu Nunn ran a PB, finishing 25th overall in 23.44, while Julie Foster finished as the ninth lady in 27.16, recording her fastest time of the series.

O’Connor won the overall ladies’ prize and Moses took the men’s award

Pat Butler was first home for the club in the 10k, finishing first male vet40 and fourth overall in 38.09, with Gill Pragnell finishing first lady vet45, and second lady overall in 46.04 and Victoria Pragnell third in 46.08.

Pat Butler led the ADRRC contingent home in the latest Ashford parkrun, finishing 10th and first in his age category in 19.59.

Other club finishers: Robert Carpenter 16th (20.52), Mark Attenborou­gh 18th (21.050, Andrew Taylor 20th (22:02), John Fidge 39th and first in his age category (24.16).

Clare Green was fifth lady home (24,28), Dan Green 42nd (24.29) and Simon Jackson 58th (26.11).
