Graham plays big part in win

Stuart Graham’s century led Stowting to a 10-wicket win at Upchurch in Division 3 on Sunday. Graham hit 18 fours and three sixes in his 133 not out off 113 balls, with opening partner Lawrie Hills making an unbeaten 73 in a total of 214-0 in 34 overs. He also enjoyed a good day with the ball, claiming 3-5 in three overs in Upchurch’s 213-9. Ben Toseland hit 76 as Aldington (192) lost by 32 runs at Addington Village (224). A single off the last ball helped Stone-in-Oxney clinch a one-wicket win over Egerton. Scott Freeman hit 52 not out and skipper Ryan Knight (30) in their 131-9, with Rob Sparks and Robert Parnham taking three wickets each. Sparks top scored with 44 in Egerton’s 130-9, with Henry Pelling Smith claiming a career best 4-18. Meanwhile, a club EGM voted unanimousl­y to allow a new Tenterden 3rd Xl side to use Stone’s home ground next season. They will play in the Kent Regional League, with Stone’s Saturday side playing friendlies. Stone plan to field two teams in the KVL on Sunday. Division 2 leaders Wye claimed six points as visitors Leybourne cried off, while Smarden are third after a seven-wicket win at 10-man Challock. They got home on 72-3, after Andy Underdown and Tom Crisford took three wickets each in the home side’s 67-9. Steve Paine hit 52 as Woodchurch (176) won by 35 runs at Detling (141). Jordan Godden (5-25) and Alex Markwick (4-30) helped Mersham le Hatch to bowl out Tyler Hill for 79, to win a low-scoring contest by 10 runs. Opener Tom McKellow carried his bat to make 36 in Mersham’s 89-9. Bradley Harper and skipper Matthew Ford both hit half-centuries in Dymchurch’s 191-7 as they lost by 132 runs at Linton Park who made 323-4 in their 40 overs. In Division 4, Abhi Panda hit 112 but finished on the losing side as Mersham Sports (247-4) lost by six wickets at Borden 248-6. Chris Gower top scored with 48 for Kingsnorth (198-6) in their 38-run win at home to Blue House (160, Rob Johnson 4-37). Neil Watts (50 not out) and Josh Deane (47 not out) added 81 in an unbeaten seventh-wicket stand for Charing (149-7) in their five-wicket home defeat by Hunton Wanderers (152-5). In Division 5, there were defeats for Bilsington, Little Chart and Rolvenden, the latter losing by one wicket at home to Littlebour­ne 2nds. Kennington lost at home to Sturry in Division 6. The league’s annual meeting takes place on Friday, October 7, at Sandyacres in Ashford (8pm).
