Postal pranks, lunar links and a Frozen singalong

-

The latest in a series of off-beat talks at Revelation St Mary’s continues with one on ‘postal pranks’ and another on ‘moon shadows’.

Former visitor to Ashford’s St Mary’s Church, Dr David Bramwell returns with a new speaker for an evening of more weirdness and wonderment.

After the success of its launch in June, the Curiosity Club returns next Wednesday.

It’s being hosted by BBC Radio 3 Sony Award winner Dr David Bramwell who is joined by Ashford’s own Kevin Barry for the second instalment of scintillating talks and lively debate.

Dr Bramwell’s talk is called The History of Postal Pranks and Mischief and explores the world of Victorian prankster Reginald Bray, who sent over 30,000 obscure objects in the mail, including a cigarette, turnips, a bowler hat, his dog, and even himself!

The talk has been delivered at the Postal Museum and Archive, to a WI in Eastbourne and to several comedy clubs.

And Ashford resident Kevin Barry will be presenting a talk titled Sun Spots, Moon Shadows and Human Behaviour.

The independent stock and options trader explores the natural cycles on earth and in the cosmos to reveal hidden truths about our existence.

He tackles issues like why have wars occurred at regular intervals throughout history and is the pattern destined to be repeated?

Is there a link between the lunar cycle and the price of silver and what is the connection between tree rings in Java and the UK property market?

Tickets, £8 in advance or £10 on the door, at www.revelationstmarys.co.uk or call 01233 663201.

The Revelation St Mary’s programme continues on Saturday, September 24 with a concert by John Coghlan’s Quo.

On Wednesday, September 28 there’s a show called The Wheels on Debussy.

On October 19, a show with Gerald Dickens called Sikes & Nancy, featuring The Signalman.

The final show of the month ends on a high on Thursday, October 27 with a Frozen singalong.
