Ten teams battled it out in Pilgrims Hospice Ashford’s first It’s a Knockout contest. Sunday’s event at the Sandyacres sports club in Sandyhurst Lane, Ashford raised over £11,000 for the charity with further sponsorship money expected to swell the total. Inflatable obstacles, superb costumes and madcap activities were the theme of the day with participants attacking each game with gusto and much hilarity. There were lots of fun activities for spectators to take part in too, including games and competitions. Faversham Ices and Consort provided ice creams, donating all their takings to Pilgrims Hospices. The winning team was the Superheroes entered by Team Tactics. They were very closely followed by The Incredibles with Andrew & Co in third place. The wooden spoon medals were awarded to Kingsfords Solicitors who showed fantastic spirit throughout. Charles Bird, Team Tactics’ commercial director said: “Our Superheroes team would like to thank Pilgrims Hospices for organising such an enjoyable day. “The whole team had a fantastic time on each of the tasks and to top the day off, we were the winners. The trophy is proudly placed in our office and the day will be spoken about for weeks to come.” Victoria Lawrence, Pilgrims’ community fundraising manager said: “It was a fabulous day and a real opportunity for teams to come together in a fun way to raise vital funds for us. “I didn’t stop laughing throughout the day. “Many thanks to all of the teams who took part, including the winners Team Tactics and our sponsors Andrew and Co Estate Agents and Three R’s Teacher Recruitment.”
