Kentish Express Ashford & District
Fundraiser in garden
An Ashford family invited guests to join them for a garden open afternoon in aid of charity.
Guests enjoyed homemade cakes, live music, toasted marshmallows, a raffle and model steam engine demonstrations.
Money raised will go to the March Wood Project, a community organisation which helps young people and adults tackle social and emotional issues to promote positive life choices.
The non-profit organisation group, run by Mark Wood and Karen Little, provides educational and therapeutic programmes within 100 acres of Kentish woodland.
Event host and co-organiser, Anita Wagar said: “We raised £260 for the March Wood Project. We were very pleased with the afternoon.” A charity plant sale has helped raised vital funds for a cancer charity.
Tenterden and District Horticultural Society held the sale in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care, raising £1,608.
A cheque was presented to Georgia Patton from the charity at the society’s autumn show, held at Highbury Hall on Saturday.
Funds raised will be used to support nurses in the county and the society hopes to add to the sum by donating money collected for teas, which will be counted at the end of the year.
