Officers doing ‘excellent job’
Cllr Clair Bell, Ashford Borough Council’s portfolio holder for public interaction and borough presentation, said this week: “We are delighted to see the success of the litter enforcement campaign, and our wardens are doing an excellent job at taking a fair, but firm, approach when dealing with people caught littering in Ashford and Tenterden.
“It is a shame we’ve had to take a tough approach to tackle littering in the borough, despite launching a long-term anti-littering campaign to discourage this type of behavior, but we are confident it will help keep Ashford looking clean and tidy for its residents and visitors.
“The community have been very supportive of the new initiative. Not only have our wardens received positive comments in person when they have been on patrol, but we have also had positive feedback from our social media feeds and in the comments section under the news article on KentOnline.”
