Still looking ahead after 90 years’ trade

Staff at an independent opticians celebrated the company’s 90th birthday with prosecco, cake and nibbles with customers.

Cargills Optometrists was established in 1926, and has branches in Ashford, Hythe, Folkestone and Canterbury.

Staff at the branch in North Street in Ashford town centre greeted customers with goodie bags and raffle tickets.

Owner and optometrist Chris Hulme said: “We’re proud to be the oldest independent optician in Ashford and in Kent.”
