Bradley Ray believes the race for the Dickies British Supersport Championship title is going to the wire.

The 19-year-old Lydd rider recorded his second win double of the season, at Donington Park last weekend, making it five victories in the last six outings, to leave him 32 points behind overall leader Tarran Mackenzie with four races left.

Ray said: “I’ve got a funny feeling that we will be fighting for the championship at the last round,

“I am not being big headed – I’m going out and riding my own race so I can pick up as many points as I can to close in on the championship.

“I’m not aiming for the title but we’ll see where we are at Brands (next month) and I’ll use my head from there but am feeling good and confident.” Ray started well in the Sprint race on Saturday before being pushed wide onto the grass but recovered quickly to make his way through the pack, taking the lead before breaking away, crossing the line two seconds ahead of runner-up Mackenzie.

He started Sunday second on the grid and got away well, before chasing down David Allingham for the lead, getting past him, and again breaking away from his rivals.

Ray posted the fastest lap of the race on lap five, going on to take the chequered flag.

The penultimate round takes place at Assen in Holland from Friday, September 30, to Sunday, October 2.
