Stagecoach launch new passenger app to improve service

-

Bus company Stagecoach has launched a new app for its passengers.

The new Stagecoach Bus app, free for Apple and Android mobile phones, offers additional customer benefits including improved journey information.

But the company warns that urgent action is needed on worsening road congestion if bus passengers are to fully benefit from the new technology.

The app offers a journey planner using interactive maps and GPS to identify a users nearest bus stop and the most suitable service for their requirements.

They can also find out journey lengths, fare options and live running times.

The app enables travellers to pinpoint their location, helping determine where they are on the route.

Stagecoach plans to offer mobile ticketing through the app on its bus services for the first time and to instantly buy and download tickets alongside existing smart tickets and cash payments.

Stagecoach South East managing director Philip Norwell said: “In today’s fast-paced world, time is really precious.

“Our new app will make bus travel easier and give people more time to focus on the other important things in their lives.

“What our new app can’t do is solve the growing problem of road congestion. We need local authorities to take action because faster and more reliable bus journeys, fewer cars and less pollution is better for everyone in our communities.”

The app is part of a major investment in its digital strategy in transforming journey experiences for customers.
