Sex slavery shock

-

Police have rescued four women from a suspected brothel in Ashford as part of a countywide crackdown on modern slavery. The eastern European women in their 20s are believed to be victims of sex-trafficking.

They were released after offic- ers swooped on an end-terrace house in Beaver Road North on Monday, one of a series of raids across Kent.

Detectives said the women were promised jobs in beauty and farming but instead are thought to have been subjected to daily sexual assaults.

Det Ch Supt Rob Fordham said: “Many of them have been forced into prostitution and have their passports, phones and documents taken away.”

Cllr Jenny Webb, who represents the area said: “This is a huge shock and I’m dumbstruck this has been going on in our area and under our noses.”
