Julian makes mincemeat of tracksuits

-

Comedian Julian Clary has taken a cheeky swipe at the Olympic and Paralympic homecoming parades – and bus passengers in Ashford.

Mr Clary, who lives in Aldington, took to Twitter as Britain’s medal-winning athletes from the Games in Rio de Janeiro were welcomed by crowds of up to 150,000 in rainy Manchester on Monday.

The event was televised on BBC and Channel 4 to mark the team’s most successful Olympic and Paralympic Games and on Tuesday they were welcomed again at Trafalgar Square in London.

But Mr Clary seemed less than impressed. He told his 200,000 Twitter followers: “I’m not sure about these hero parades.

“If I wanted to see people in tracksuits on a bus I can go to Ashford.”

Mr Clary is touring with his show, The Joy of Mincing, which includes a performance at the Leas Cliff Hall, Folkestone, on Sunday, October 30.
