Warrants executed right across the county during police clampdown

Over six days, police were active all over the county. Seven warrants were executed, no one was arrested and one woman was referred for further support. Here’s a timeline of police activity:

Monday, October 10 Police entered a property in Gravesend with a warrant and found one female inside. No arrests were made.

Tuesday, October 11 Officers conducted a “safe and well” visit in Margate.

They engaged the community in discussion­s about identifyin­g victims and spoke of any issues the neighbourh­ood have around sex workers in the local area.

No arrests were made.

Wednesday, October 12 Another “safe and well” visit was made to an address in Gillingham. Two Romanian women in their 20s were spoken to and given safeguardi­ng advice.

Elsewhere, officers visited an address in Maidstone with a warrant and found two women and a man. One woman was arrested under the sexual offences act.

In Canterbury, police entered a property with a warrant and found one woman and two men, all in their 20s. No arrests were made but “a significan­t number of exhibits” were seized, along with further intelligen­ce.

Thursday, October 13 A 19-year-old Albanian was passed through to the national referral mechanism (NRM) as a victim of human traffickin­g. Police entered a property in Canterbury with a warrant where they found two men and three women. They made two arrests in connection to sexual offences and offered safeguardi­ng advice to women.

Friday, October 14 Officers entered a property in Ashford with a warrant where they found three people in their 20s. No arrests were made.

Elsewhere, officers entered a property in Gravesend with a warrant where they arrested six men and seized a large quantity of cigarettes and cash.

Monday, October 17 Police entered a property in Beaver Road North, Ashford, where four women aged between 20 and 30 were found. No arrests were made.
