Apprentice bid by young farmer

An Ashford woman is facing nine other young farmers in a battle to win a £25,000 job in the first ever Farmers Apprentice competitio­n.

Camilla Hyselden-Ashby, 24, is the only contestant from Kent to face other finalists from across the country in a set of tough farming challenges on a week-long bootcamp at Bishop Burton College, in Yorkshire.

The winner will be crowned Farmers Apprentice 2016 and land a one-year, £25,000 assistant farm manager apprentice­ship with top farming business Farmcare.

The first three episodes are already available to watch on the Farmers Weekly website and the winner will be announced on Friday, November 4.
