New fishing rules signs put up at lake

Eight new signs detailing fishing rules have been installed around a lake in Ashford.

The No Night Fishing notices were put up at Singleton Lake last week.

Cllr Jessamy Blanford, Ashford Borough Council’s portfolio holder for culture, leisure, environmen­t and heritage, said: “The No Night Fishing signs by Singleton Lake were installed last Wednesday to replace the original signs which had suffered from wear and tear.

“Nothing has changed and fishing at night in Singleton Lake remains illegal.

“The lake remains a wonderful asset for local people.” Five miles – starting at 10.30am from Bridge recreation ground: East Kent Rambling Club. 12 miles – starting at 10am from Ospringe recreation ground, lunch stop in Newnham: East Kent Rambling Club. THURSDAY (October 27) 11 miles – starting at 10am from Wye car park, lunch stop at Westwell: White Cliffs Ramblers.
