Fire clears flats

Firefighters tackled a blaze in the kitchen of an Ashford ground-floor flat in Ordinance Way at around 10.47am on Tuesday morning. The flats were evacuated as crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the property to extinguish the fire. A ventilation fan was used to clear smoke from the building. The occupants of the flat were out at the time. Two engines attended the scene and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is unknown.
