Student celebrates degree of success

-

A young woman from Wye has achieved top marks in a Masters degree in rural estate and land management.

Sophie Walker, 26, who works for Hobbs Parker Property Consultants (HPPC), was one of only two students in her year group to gain the top-level distinction.

Miss Walker studied with Harper Adams University in Shropshire and will now sit her Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) in spring next year to become a chartered surveyor.

She said: “Having been born and bred in the county, it is great to be able to work with many local agricultural businesses as part of Hobbs Parker’s team of surveyors.”

Miss Walker, who is also clerk of Goodnestone Parish Council, works full-time at Hobbs Parker.

Her role with the rural property consultants includes valuations, landlord and tenant matters, utilities and telecommunications.

Sam Snart, managing director of HPPC, said: “Sophie’s success is testament to her hard work and commitment to becoming a surveyor.

“She has already shown, since joining us in 2014, that she has a real passion and aptitude for her job.”
