Fears over lake suicide after row

-

Fears that someone needed rescuing from a lake proved to be unfounded.

Emergency services were called to reports of young man suspected to be in Singleton Lake at about 10.40pm last Friday .

But it turned out this had not happened and the man was safe and well.

An Ashford Fire Station spokesman said: “A woman had a row with her son, he walked out and it seemed she feared he may have thrown himself into the lake.”

Kent Police spokesman Steve Knight said; “The missing person, a young man, was located by officers and family members nearby. He was unharmed.

“I can’t really speculate on why it was thought he may have been in the lake, although generally speaking it is not uncommon for people to fear the worst.”

Residents saw a heavy presence of police, fire brigade and ambulance service at the scene, with emergency service launches and raised questions about what might be happening on social media.
