Adoption Week appeal

Kent County Council (KCC) is urging residents – particularly during this week’s National Adoption Week –- to consider adoption as they hunt for people to look after older children, those with complex needs.

Peter Oakford, KCC cabinet member for specialist children’s services, said: “We have worked hard to reduce the times children are spending in care, because the sooner a child is in their forever home, the quicker he or she can settle in and thrive.”

KCC will be holding a drop-in event this Saturday at Oakwood House Hotel, in Maidstone from 10am for anyone who wants to find out more about adoption.
