New arrivals for refugees

-

Three refugee women who have been resettled from war-torn Syria are now expecting children in their new life in Ashford.

According to Ashford Borough Council’s refugee resettlement co-ordinator Anne Forbes, 33 Syrians from seven families have been brought from refugee camps as part of a governmentbacked programme to provide sanctuary for 20,000 people.

The council was the first authority in Kent to offer to support the government scheme which will see up to 250 people settled in the borough by 2020.

Now, according to a report by Ms Forbes, three families will be expecting new arrivals in the coming months.
