Charlie Coleman and Connor Coombes both scored two tries as Ashford enjoyed a 53-8 home win over Medway 2nds in Shepherd Neame Late Red 3 at Kinneys Field on Saturday.

Ben Gray scored and converted his own try with chairman John Norman and a penalty by Coleman completing the first half scoring, before second half scores by Andy Ticehurst, Kyeran Shilling, Ollie Gray and Coombes’ double helped stretch the home side’s advantage.

Captain Ben Jones said: “We had a strong front five supported by a combative back row in which Will Welsh showed up well.

“Our half backs were decisive and our backs in general were strong and creative.

“There were many positives, but there are still areas for improvement if we are to perform consistently to this standard”.

Centre Peter Wickens, second-row man Mike Bigger, and two by youngsters Spencer Jordan and Aaron Lakin were the scorers – with Jordan (three) and Joe Beejay adding the conversions.

No.8 Ken Bane helped right things with his treble – repeatedly breaking from the scrum and crossing the line with little resistance.

Flanker Louis Simpson then went over for his first try of the season, captain Jason Potter converting well from close to the touchline.

Bane then turned provider for Guy Booker to finally put the game out of reach.

An offload from Bane allowed the second row to puncture the H&B defence and race over unopposed.

Injury reduced the visitors to 14, butthey still had time to add the final score of the game.

Bluebell Cotton scored a hat-trick as Ashford under-15 girls against Tunbridge Wells.

They led 24-22 at half-time, before losing injured skipper Jas Hopkins, with Wells scoring three converted tries in the last 10 minutes to win the game.

Lucy Williams and Jemma-Jo Linkins both scored two each with the latter also kicking two conversions. lost 48-39
