SECOND-HALF GOAL BLITZ SECURES COMFORTABLE CUP WIN AT LEWISHAM

Five goals in 15 minutes in the second half helped Ashford United win 6-0 at Lewisham Borough in the second round of the Macron Southern Counties East League Challenge Cup at Ladywell Arena last Wednesday.

The Division 1 strugglers, without a win this season, resisted until halftime substitute Luke Miller broke the deadlock six minutes after the interval.

Stuart West (54), Shaun Welford (58), Miller with his second (59) and Ryan James (66) – his first for the club – put United out of sight, before Borough goalkeeper Alexander Kibbey gifted them the sixth, with an 85th minute own-goal.
